The day was perfect. The sky was blue, the birds were chirping, and it was was the perfect day for Trevan & Vanessa to say their “I Do’s”.
If Vanessa was nervous or stressed, she certainly didn’t show it. From the moment I arrived she was smiling and laughing and sharing chocolate macadamia nuts with me and everyone else that walked in the door (again, thank you Vanessa! Love that taste of Hawaii!).
Vanessa walked down the aisle at Westminster Presbyterian Church with her dad by her side, towards a groom that could not contain his emotion. Trevan was overcome with love in this surreal moment when his beautiful bride, the one he had waited for, approached the altar where they would promise each other forever. Their ceremony and their vows were a beautiful testament of their love for the Lord, and their commitment to keep Him at the centre of their marriage.
We had such a fun time taking photos with Trevan & Vanessa’s bridal party at Fish Creek Park. They each had only one attendant which made for a very relaxed day and gave us lots of time for creative couples portraits. We even got to stop for a little ice cream break at Annie’s before heading to the reception at Heritage Pointe Golf Club.
Trevan & Vanessa – it has truly been my honour to get to know you both over these past few months and to capture the love you share. I loved hearing your family and friends talk about the memories they have of you and how much they love and support you both in your new life together. I’m so excited that we are practically neighbours and that I’ll get to bump into you from time to time! Much love – Carlin
Enjoying a little Wok Box!
I think this is my favourite shot of a bride’s mom helping her dress for her wedding day. Their expressions are so similar and so full of joy!
Praying before the ceremony
All of the table numbers were future years – and the guests were instructed to open up the card and write some advice or a fun date idea for the bride and groom to read on their anniversary that year. Such a fun way to reminisce about your wedding day in the years to come!
We had an incredible sunset after dinner and were able to sneak out for a few minutes for a few more photos!

There’s something so incredible about the wedding of high school sweethearts. Matt & Jenna spent their growing up years together and have already seen so much of life together. Their wedding day was such a celebration of the love they have shared thus far, as well as a blessing for their future. Their family surrounded them as they made vows to one another at the beautiful Cochrane Ranchehouse, and the emotion felt by everyone was evident by the tears and laughter.
The ceremony had to be moved inside due to rain, but then the sun came out and we explored the grounds taking photos and blowing glitter with their awesome bridal party!
One of my favourite things about being a wedding photographer is listening to the toasts and speeches at the wedding reception. It’s so great to hear all the memories and thoughts about the bride and groom both together and separately as children. I always tear up at some point, but at this wedding I was on the verge of blubbering like a baby during one of the groomsmen’s toasts to the groom. He recounted his school days, when Matt was one of the only people to show kindness and befriend him. Call me a sap if you want but that is the kind of story that I hope will be told about my own sons on each of their wedding days. And that is why I love my clients so much – they are kind, genuine people that will love each other well and will build strong marriages and families.
Matt & Jenna – you are absolutely incredible people and I’ve been so blessed to have gotten to know you both this year. I had such an amazing time capturing your wedding and meeting the people closest to you. My wish for you both is that your deep friendship would continue to grow stronger with each passing year, and that your love would inspire everyone around you. Much love – Carlin
It took some convincing to let this guy know it was ok to ride through our shot! I love a good photobomb:)
Love it when the guys wear fun socks with their fancy duds!
I absolutely love how these two decorated the Cochrane Ranchehouse for their reception. When in doubt – more twinkle lights!
Such a beautiful, classic white wedding cake.
These two had some pretty sweet moves on the dance floor!

Sunset portraits at the end of the night are always some of my favourites…

Darcy & Jess are two of the most kind and genuine people you will ever meet. On the morning of their wedding, during the bustle of getting ready, Jess kept trying to help me move furniture around while I was photographing details. I told her to go relax but she wanted to make sure that everyone had what they needed.
When her dress was buttoned and her veil securely fastened, Jess made her way to see her dad for the first time as a bride. Her mom and bridesmaids watched with tears in their eyes as Jess and her dad hugged and cried for a good long while, before heading off to the wedding ceremony at St Michaels Church.
The rest of the day was absolutely beautiful. Darcy and Jess were surrounded by so many people who love and care for them. They had an incredible bridal party made up of lifelong friends, who made the afternoon of photos so much fun.
The Links of Glen Eagles did a fantastic job with the reception, which was decorated so beautifully with roses, wood slabs, and love quotes. The night ended with a little bit of rain so we snuck out after dinner to take some nighttime photos.
Darcy & Jess – thank you so much for allowing me into your lives to capture some incredible moments of your wedding day. I wish you a lifetime filled with a love that continues to grow in depth, strength, and tenderness as the years pass by.
Her dad seeing her for the first time in her wedding dress…
…and the girls watching from above.
Jessica and her bridesmaids burned the words of 1 Corinthians 13 onto wood slabs to hang on the end of each aisle. It was such a great way to add a personal touch to the ceremony at St Michaels.
That moment when it becomes real…
The bride and groom took communion together for the first time as husband and wife, and then the congregation stretched out their hands in blessing towards the newlyweds.
Jessica’s “something old” was her grandma’s ring which she pinned to her bouquet of red roses.

Kyle & Meryl are a match made in heaven… or on the running track. At their reception, Kyle’s parents recounted how Kyle had told them that he found someone special in Meryl – “I can’t believe I met someone who likes doing all the same things as I do!” They run, swim, bike & triathlons, climb mountains, and all the time encourage each other to be the best version of themselves.
The morning of their wedding day felt so wonderful. Meryl and her best girls relaxed and had their hair and makeup done while her mom cooked them a fabulous quinoa and salmon lunch. We drove to the first look location while Meryl put the finishing touches on the vows she would later read to Kyle in front of all their family and friends. Somehow I managed to get stung by a wasp (btw who knew wasps could have nests underground??). But the bridal party looked gorgeous in the lavender & sage colour palette, and we had a such a great time taking photos that I (almost) forgot about the throbbing pain;)
The ceremony was held outdoors at the SCA Community Association, and was beautiful and casual. Kyle & Meryl greeted all of their guests after the ceremony by handing out drinks to get the party started! The reception was super fun and laid back, with yummy appetizers circulating and plenty of drinks to go around. The speeches had everyone roaring with laughter and at the end of the night Kyle & Meryl tore up the dance floor in a fast paced two-step filled with enough of spins and dips to make their guests cheer with delight.
Meryl & Kyle – thank you for including me in your amazing wedding day. I’ve had so much fun hanging out with you this year and I think that you are both such incredible people. I wish you a lifetime of joy and adventure together as you keep pursuing your dreams.
Their cute little puppy was even decked out in his fanciest clothes for the special occasion!Even though the day was cloudy we caught the sun right before it dipped below the horizon. Anytime I can sneak in a few shots during this dreamy, golden light my heart does a happy dance:) They make for some of the most romantic photos of the day.
This next photo is a little different than my usual style, but with the vintage feel of the day and a couple who absolutely killed the serious look, we were able to create this photo that looks like something from the 1920’s – and I absolutely love it! It was a day filled with so much love, and maybe even some divine intervention.
Kelci and Brad had been long awaiting this day – the day when they would become husband and wife. Kelci had everything perfectly organized and ready to go, so that on the morning of her wedding all she had to do was sit back and get pampered with her best girls. These girls had walked with her through various times in her life, and today they all came together to stand beside her as she married her best friend.
Overlooking the beautiful valley at Pinebrook Golf & Country Club, Brad and Kelci pledged a lifetime of love to one another in front of their family and friends. We had an awesome time taking photos with their gorgeous bridal party around the property and then as soon as we sat down to dinner, the storm clouds rolled in and soaked the earth. Then, when dinner was over, the sun came out and gave us an amazing sunset and fiery sky. It was the most perfect day.
The reception was absolutely amazing. Pops of Tiffany Blue throughout the decor, the INCREDIBLE candy bar, and the beautiful, heartfelt and hilarious speeches by friends and family made this wedding so memorable. But I think my favourite memory of all is when Kelci’s grandpa rocked out the dance floor with all the young ladies to the Spice Girls and Backstreet Boys. It literally made my whole summer.
Brad & Kelci – thank you both SO much for letting me be a part of your incredible day. You have already been on many adventures together as a couple, but my wish for you is that this journey of marriage would be the most amazing adventure of them all. Much Love!
This was right before dinner – You can see those storm clouds rolling in!
But then the clouds sure made for an incredible sky after the storm!
We had been watching the forecast all week before the wedding and with all the rain Calgary has seen this summer (seriously… enough already) Kelci made sure to have a pair of rubber boots which sure came in handy for our sunset photos after dinner!
I’m just going to put this out there… I will NEVER get tired of candy bars at weddings. Seriously… I love having a little bag stashed away for when I need a sugar buzz while I’m editing wedding photos! This candy bar was put together by the mother of the groom and it was absolutely gorgeous! And tasty!
The bride and groom had to kiss for the duration of a guest hula hooping:) Such a fun kissing game idea!
Brad and Kelci shared their first dance as husband and wife to “Then” by Brad Paisley.
“We’ll look back someday
At this moment that we’re in
And I’ll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then”
To top off the most amazing day – Kelci’s grandpa killed it on the dance floor and absolutely made my day. I left the wedding with the biggest grin on my face:)
