Nordic Centre Wedding

For the entire drive out to Canmore my stomach was in knots. There were looming dark clouds that only seemed to get worse the further we ventured into the mountains. Karin and Bryce had planned an outdoor ceremony at the beautiful Nordic Centre, and I kept waiting to hear if there was going to be a change of plans if the rain started pouring.

But as the ceremony approached, the clouds parted, the sun peeked through, and Bryce & Karin exchanged vows beneath the majestic Rocky Mountains.

Here are some of my favourite things about Bryce & Karin’s amazing day:

1. The Incredible Mountains. What makes a better backdrop for a wedding than our own Rocky Mountains. They are truly spectacular and I love that we live so close to such an amazing place.

2. An Unplugged Ceremony. It is so amazing to take a few moments away from our phones to be fully present with a couple as they are getting married. It makes such a difference in the overall feel of the ceremony.

3. Karin wore flats! So perfect for being on your feet all day, plus, they’re super cute!

4. Purple bridesmaids dresses. I’m a little biased here as one of my top two favourite colours is purple, but really, a deep purple against the green backdrop of nature – GORGEOUS!

5. Speaking of purple, the Purple and Green Florals from Philip Chong Flower Bar were stunning.

6. As much as the weather was tormenting me before the ceremony, it turned out to be perfect. We had cloud when we needed it, a little bit of misty rain – just enough to add some drama – and some beautiful sun to highlight the newlyweds in their formal photos.

7. The Shoe Game! It is such a fun way to get to know the new couple.

8. Hype Entertainment did a fantastic job DJing the reception. Derek was so interactive with the guests and even stepped in to teach everyone a line dance to “Cadillac Ranch”.
