Sirocco Golf Club Wedding

“I love you and I like you.”

On a gorgeous first day of September, Jillian put on her wedding dress while Patrick dressed in his suit. Each surrounded by their best friends, they read handwritten love notes from their beloved, anticipating the moment they would become husband and wife. Jillian gave her girls thoughtful gifts and letters, and Patrick played Sushi Go Party with his guys. They each put on a tiny ladybug in memory of Jillian’s mom, and made their way to Sirocco Golf Club to have a private moment together before the ceremony.

We drove around in a parade of golf carts to take photos in the country fields and by a little barn that looks like it will topple over at any time. And then Jillian was escorted down the aisle by her dad, in a beautiful outdoor ceremony overlooking the ridge. There were many tears, lots of laughter, and their love was tangible. Speeches at the reception were both funny and heartfelt, and then Patrick + Jillian got the party going with a choreographed first dance that included spins and lifts!

We snuck out for what is my most favourite time at a wedding – sunset. A few moments alone, to drink in the day, and to let your joy sink down deep into your hearts and memory. Patrick + Jillian, it was a true pleasure to photograph your wedding day. I hope that these photos take you back to all these precious moments for many years to come. Much love, Carlin

Inglewood Engagement Photos | Ashleigh + Brendan

Inglewood Engagement Photos

I met up with Ashleigh + Brendan in Inglewood on a hot summer evening, and we re-created their first date. These two had both signed up for online dating, met up for coffee in Inglewood, realized that they had found their “person”, and very quickly cancelled their memberships.

They wandered around the neighbourhood, perused old music at Recordland, and made plans to see each other again. Fast forward 3 and a half years and they’re getting ready to walk down the aisle!

For their engagement session, we started out at The Nash Restaurant, found some pretty trees, stopped in at Recordland and Plant, and finished with coffee at Starbucks. We had an absolute blast together and I can’t wait to see them tie the knot!

Lake House Wedding Photographer

Sam + Corey had waited for this day with eager anticipation. Exactly 2 years after Corey proposed, they sealed the deal in a cozy wedding at The Lake House in Calgary. The event was perfectly planned and executed by the wonderful ladies at Everlasting Impressions.

Before the ceremony, Sam + Corey had a first look at a private estate home on the lake. The smoke from the wildfires made everything a little bit moody & dramatic, which suited this classic wedding perfectly.

The emotional toasts had everyone tearing up, as friends and family shared their overwhelming joy that these two found each other. Sarah, the MC and one of my past brides, got the party revved up with an impeccable lip-sync of Cher’s “Life After Love”. And everyone danced the night away.

Sam + Corey – it’s been such a pleasure getting to know you and spending your wedding day with you. I wish you increasing joy as you walk together in marriage. Many blessings, Carlin

After a couple days of smoke filled skies, I was so excited to see it clear up just in time for Candice + Nick’s Engagement Session. We had the most delicious golden light to play in at the Peace Bridge and around East Village. We even snuck in a few photos with the blooming apple blossoms!

Catholic-Sikh Wedding Photographer Calgary | Queenie & Sonny

Catholic Sikh Wedding Photographer Calgary

A joining of families, of cultures, and of hearts. A traditional Catholic ceremony on Saturday, and a Sikh reception on Sunday.

One of my favourite moments of the weekend came during our formal photos. In a tender, private moment, Queenie & Sonny read one another love letters. It was just the two of them (plus me, creeping on them with a zoom lens), and they simply poured out their hearts to one another in beautiful vulnerability.

This was my first experience photographing an Indian reception, and it was so fun! Queenie & Sonny performed for their guests; Sonny on guitar and Queenie singing “The Way I Am”. Queenie also sang “Can’t Take My Eyes off of You” accompanied by a Saxophone as a surprise for Sonny. The food was incredible, the party was energetic, and the love was tangible. The couple changed into traditional Sikh outfits at the end of the night and we snuck outside for a couple of portraits.

Queenie & Sonny are a perfect match. They are exuberant and joyful, jumping into all life has to offer. Our days together were filled with laughter and silliness, as well as raw, authentic emotion. I am so thankful to have been a part of such an amazing celebration and I wish you both a lifetime of love and laughter!
