Kananaskis Mountain Engagement Photos – Dan & Bonnie

As I drove out to Kananaskis to meet up with Bonnie & Dan, the sun was shining and the sky was blue. But the further I drove the angrier the skies became, and by the time I arrived at our location, the rain and snow were falling hard. Bonnie jumped out of the car ready to go with her umbrella, saying that she didn’t mind getting wet! So we started our session in the mist and moodiness of the snow clouds, and these two embraced it all and just cozied up to each other to keep warm. And then the sun came out and the landscape changed and we got the most gorgeous mountain sunset light you can imagine. It was pure magic.
Bonnie & Dan are so amazing together and I can hardly wait to photograph their wedding later this fall. Enjoy the photos, and don’t forget to check out the video slideshow at the bottom of this post!

Nose Hill Park Engagement Photos
“When you find something good, you don’t look elsewhere.” Jenna explained with a smile, telling me about how she and Matt met back in high school and have been together ever since! These two have such a sincere love, and you can tell that they are absolute best friends. They are so kind and genuine and showed concern for me when I fell flat on my back during their session – in slow motion no less!

We met up at Nose Hill Park on a weird, crazy weather that changes every 5 minutes, Calgary “winter” day. The snow came and went, and the sun peeked through the clouds that had no idea what they were supposed to be doing. The wind came to play just a little and the winter sunset capped everything off its gorgeous golden light.

Emerald Lake Lodge Wedding Photographer
When Beth invited me along to second shoot with her at Emerald Lake, I jumped at the opportunity. I knew that a wedding nestled in the mountains overlooking the most beautiful crystal blue water imaginable would be nothing short of breathtaking. Weddings in the Rocky Mountains never disappoint, and Emerald Lake Lodge is such an incredible venue. The cabins have wood-burning fireplaces, and the air is still and fresh. It would be the perfect place for an unplugged weekend away from the city.
Kris & Laura’s wedding day was so relaxed – after our mini engagement session in the afternoon, we got to take our time hanging out with the bride and groom and their family as they prepared for an evening ceremony overlooking the lake. We had all kinds of weather – rain, sun, and then some more rain, but Laura just smiled and said “best day of our lives!” It was definitely a wonderful day and I’m so happy that I got to be a part of it.

Emerald Lake Engagement Photos
I was so thrilled when Beth invited me along this past fall to second shoot a wedding at Emerald Lake Lodge. It was my first time out there and it definitely won’t be my last! The landscape is incredible and the lake itself is breathtaking – such a beautiful turquoise colour! Emerald Lake Lodge has incredible cabin type rooms with wood burning fireplaces – and would make the perfect weekend getaway for anyone wanting to escape the city and get lots of fresh mountain air. On the morning of Kris & Laura’s Wedding, we had the opportunity to do a mini e-session. Even though it started to rain, these two had no complaints.
